Small businesses make up 97% of New Zealand firms, contribute ~42% of economic value-add, and employ hundreds of thousands of people. Yet they are the least organised voice when the rules, costs and conditions that affect them are decided.

NZSME changes that. We translate the collective experience of our members into evidence-based positions that are heard at the highest levels of decision-making — select committees, regulatory consultations, ministerial meetings.

We are sector-wide and non-partisan. We don't lobby for any particular industry group, political party, or commercial interest. We advocate for the conditions every NZ small business needs to succeed: fair regulation, accessible capital, good infrastructure, and a competitive tax environment.
